8-Year-Old Drummer Hopes to Beat Compeitors’ Beats

Jake Sanders loves playing the drums, and is already on his way to becoming one of New Jersey’s Music Idols.
The eight-year-old, who began learning the drums at age two and also plays guitar, will spend Sunday performing in the final round of Rock N’ Music Idol, a competition pitting

Rock’n Music Idol Semifinalists Announced

Hundreds of contestants from throughout the state have auditioned in hope of becoming a Rock’n Music Idol for 2007-08. The competition, administered by Rock’n Music Academy in Middletown, is a search for New Jersey’s most impressive musicians ages 7 to 17 in the categories of guitar, bass, drums, keyboard/piano, vocals and vocals/instrument. Contestants are judged by professional musicians based on style, originality and technique.
The following local students were chosen to advance to the semifinal round of Rock’n Music Idol 2007-08 and compete for a spot in the live finale:

Rock’n Music Idol Finale Set for June 7

The search for the 2009 Rock’n Music Idol winners will end June 7 when the live finale begins at 4 p.m. at the Cliffwood Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars hall, 699 Cliffwood Ave., Keyport.
The annual music talent search began in February with more than 600 contestants from throughout New Jersey auditioning for a chance at becoming the next Rock’n Music Idol. After two competitive audition rounds, the judges narrowed the field down to 27 finalists.
The finale will feature performances by all of the finalists as well as winners from the last season of Rock’n Music Idol.
